I’m a very unhappy customer. A pump with two attachments might be expected to pump both breasts at once. This pump, even at the highest setting, does not meet that expectation. I was not allowed a refund, and am out the price of this item, plus the cost to replace it with a working pump.

I’ve been using this pump for four weeks now and I love it. My son has trouble latching on so I’ve been exclusively pumping (roughly 12 times a day ) and the pump is perfect. It’s comfortable and easy to use. Make sure the “cycle” is turned all the way up, then when your milk starts flowing, turn it down to the lowest setting for maximum milk expression.
*** Most hospitals use a professional AMEDA pump. When I gave birth I started pumping right away in the hospital. They give you their pump to use and a new package of “parts” (two bottles, tubing, and flanges). KEEP THEM! They fit with this pump as well. Then you can have two sets so you don’t have to wash as much. It is so much less work for me since I pump so much and now I don’t need to wash the parts as much.
Most of the parts are dishwasher safe. There are two tiny plastic pieces that must be hand-washed, but that takes seconds because they are so small.
The machine does make noise when it’s on, but it can easily be muffled by a pillow or blanket. Sometimes I don’t even use anything, even in the middle of the night when I pump in bed next to my husband.
*** Like most new moms, I thought breast feeding would be easy and natural, but my son has a really hard time latching on. I would have had to feed him formula and everyone knows breast milk is the best option (if available). But breast feeding is NOT easy and does NOT come naturally to every mom or every baby. Keep that in mind if you are thinking about a hand pump. Double electric is the only way to go if you plan on going back to work or pumping frequently.
I really like this pump and I recommend it highly. Happy pumping.

I was 140% consfused about whether to get the Ameda pump or spend more and get the Medela pump. I finally decided based on other reviews to take a chance and get the Ameda and couldn’t be happier! I am a working mom with twins both exclusively breastfed. I have no complaints about the Ameda except it’s a little noisy, but in my office I can shut the door and noone can even tell. The pump has been able to keep up with the volume of about 5-6 pumps a day! There was no production drop off when I switched from this pump from the hospital grade! I was completely torn about the look of the pump and although it lacks some of the prettiness of others it is completely functional. If you are as torn as I was I have used both and with the cost savings this is worth it. My only other draw back for me is I can’t go into any store and by parts, but with a little planning ahead I have everything I need!

I purchased this pump 3 months before my baby was born and began using once per day when my baby was 1 month old. I returned to work when he was 4 months and have been using my Ameda 3-4 times a day ever since. He is now 9 months and I am getting no suction from the pump! I leave work with at most 3 ounces of milk after 1.5 hours of off and on pumping. I get better results with a manual pump. I called Ameda, we troubleshooted and realized the issue was the motor. They said since it has been 1 year, the warranty has expired and I would need to buy a new motor for $120!!! Thanks but no thanks. Spend the extra money and get a better pump. Sounds like the Medela Pump in Style is a MUCH BETTER option.

ok i have to review this pump
I am a working mom yoga teacher, massage therapist, and wellness consultant so my schedual is kinda flexible but not always routine, i planned working everyother day to keep milk supply up as pumping naturally decreases your supply anyway, this is simply just a great non professional grade pump that cleans up in a jiffy just be sure not to brush clean one of the inside parts but that is explained in the manual.
yes it makes a freaky little sound and is not too quiet, kind of like a air machine in hospital that pump the lungs full of oxygen. i dont know if any really are quiet but this makes a repetitive sound like black-bird—-inhale on the black, exhale on the bird and you pretty much got the sound, however throwing a towel over this keeps it down a bit, and i learned just to go with it mainly since i knew not better.
durability well, I have had this a year, i just dropped it on the floor yesterday OOOPSIE and it broke inside, (dont do that)
NOW have to get a new one now because im still pumping. AMEDA purely yours has longevity and based on other pumps i think this one is just a wonderful easy portable device that i can even use pumping while commuting to work driving in my car. of course i use a hands free pumping bra and cover up truckers dont need any more to look at, LOL
WELL WELL while writing this i decided to just called customer service, they are shipping a new base out and will cover a ameda rental for me while i await the new base, PHENOMENAL i believe this company really wants to support nursing not just the big dollar i cant see medela doing that but maybe.
find out what your needs are for pumping, if you are working everyday you may want to do a rental which is a professional model for a few months to establish routine! i know some moms who when they started back to work lost their milk due to inconsistent time of pumping and not long enough so you want to get a strong pump at first if you are an everyday worker. this pump has adjustable speeds to promote let down then it has just a “cruise control” for mimicking a baby suckling happily once the milk is there,
this has pump strength on how hard it pulls and speed control.
there are pump bras made by lelecheleague you can place the horns into for hands free pumping of both sides, i ususally have only 15 minutes to pump and only really did 9 oz at 3 months, 7 at 7 months and now at 5 oz at one year old, this is for adjusting to babys needs.
on the reviews that are only 1 star i suppose they have valid reasons, but my guess is they feel the same about the “other pump” they got too.
